We are LOVING all the new swimwear that has arrived in the boutique over the past few weeks, including this stunning Bandeau Bikini from the Aloha range by Seafolly - but how do you look after it properly to ensure it looks and performs it’s best year after year?

Follow our top tips to avoid any Swimwear Sins…

Always hand wash your swimwear in cold water and rinse thoroughly - take it in the shower with you after a day at beach!
Use a mild detergent
It might be tempting but do not wring out your bikini or soak it for too long
DEFINITELY do not tumble dry!
Don’t place in direct sunlight or the colour may fade, leave in a shady spot to drip dry
Do not bundle/bunch/roll/scrunch your bikini or swimsuit up wet!
Do not iron or dry clean…
Try not to expose your swimwear to too much chlorine or wear too often in spa baths to avoid potential damage
Take extra care when using fake tan or sunscreen lotions which may mark or damage your swimwear. It’s always best to leave until they are completely dry before putting on your bikini!
Avoid contact with rough surfaces to prevent pilling
Gently run fingernail over fabric to remove any trapped sand.

Take note of these points and any good quality swimwear should last a long time!

Love this step by step guide to using your Becksondergaard scarf for a variety of different uses!

Tube Top:
1. Fold your scarf in half so that the scarf remains the same length but skinnier.
2. Place the center of the folded scarf (with the folded edge upright) at the front of your chest and wrap the ends around your torso, creating a tube top.* The back should form a V.
3. Bring the two ends to the front and tie a simple knot. You can tie it however you wish, but we crossed the ends and tucked them under so that the knot was visible but the ends weren’t.
* Take care to wrap your scarf tightly at this point, so that it doesn’t slip. You can also fold down the folded edge of the scarf once more like we did to adjust to length.

The Halter Dress*:
1. Start by holding the scarf at the short ends as if you were to tie a sarong. The center of the scarf should be at your back.
2. Bring the two short ends around your torso so that they cross, creating a wrap-dress effect.
3. Twist the short ends at the shoulders and then knot them around your neck to create a halter. Twisting the ends before you tie them deepens the V-line of your halter top.
4. Adjust and cinch with the belt of your choice!
*This can be worn with as a coverup for your bathing suit, or with a slip dress underneath.

The Sarong:
1. Hold the scarf lengthwise around your waist. The center should be at your back.
2. Gather the scarf at the point you’d like to cinch your waist, and create a double knot. The front of the skirt should open and be longer than the back.

The Necklace:
1. Tie a knot in your scarf near the end, leaving room to tie the ends around your neck.
2. Continue tying your knots (always in the same direction, so that they look the same) at equal intervals. How many you want are up to you!
3. Adjust the knots and spaces between them so that they puff out.
4. Tie the ends around your neck in a small double knot.

The Beach Tote*:
1. Fold your scarf in half so that the long end is halved and the short end stays the same.
2. Gather two corners diagonal from each other and tie in a double knot.
3. Do the same for the remaining two corners.
*Perfect to put towels, swimwear, and clothing in, but not too great for magazines or books. Careful not to stretch out your scarf.

Each year has witnessed significant innovations that have revolutionized the world of lingerie. But the last years of the 20th century and the first ones of the 21st century were very dynamic. These innovations occurred in the materials used (increasing suppleness for example) and in manufacturing techniques and effects (push-up bras). In our series of blog posts, we identify 4 iconic bra’s that have been worn and loved by women around the world, each offering their own unique features and benefits.

We identified these 4 bra’s at the Salon de La Lingerie, a trade event in Paris where the world’s best lingerie and underwear brands come together for a 3 day spectacular, where trend forums, exhibitions and catwalk shows are on the menu as well as being able to source and buy the best of the worlds underwear talent!

We were astonished at the sheer volume of units these bra’s have sold - proving dedicated craftmanship and innovative, creative design can ensure a product’s longevity in a forever changing and fast paced world.
